Kings Day Nursery Review
August 9, 2009
Name: Cori Ryan
Age: 2 years
Communication, Language and Literacy:
The way Cori communicates is with body language and some words. She has started to call some of the children by their first names, e.g. “Casey, Hassan” and will continue to repeat this until she has their attention. She can sing all the words to “twinkle, twinkle little star,” but sometimes gets mixed up and finishes with A.B.C.D.

I taught her those songs. Wonder what other songs they've manage to teach her?
Personal Social and Emotional Development:
Cori interacts well with both adults and children in the baby room, although she likes spending time out in the open plan with the older children. She has a funny side and likes to do things that make the other children laugh such as make funny faces. She will sit at the table nicely at mealtimes and will tell the children off if they are not sitting down nicely.

I notice this as well. She will make these faces that will make you laugh. No one is immune I guess. She is quite bossy as well. I asked one of the nursery staff if Cori is settling in well with the older kids. And she answered with a smile that "cori gives as good as she gets." Thats enough for me.
Problem Solving, reasoning and numeracy:
Cori shows a good interest in the maths centres but gets bored with them quite quickly. She is beginning to recognise and name colours. When asked what color was the ball she said “blue.” She will play with the shape sorters and chain links for a short time but will go bored and go on to other things.
I think Cori is more interested in creative play. At home, she'd usually scream out pen! pen! pen! whenever she gets bored. I noticed she uses colors quite well. She'd usually group lighter colours together and darker colors separately. And dont you dare touch the "Pi-chure" without her permission. After she finishes making something she'd call you to give her praise. The little madam.
Knowledge and understanding of the world:
Cori has a good understanding of how things work and will put the toy phones to her ears and say hello. In the home corner kitchen, she will close the oven door and press the buttons. She has a good understanding of our routines and will go and lay down on her bed when she gets cleaned up after lunch.
Creative Development:
Cori has taken part in a lot of creative activities in the baby room and we have use lots of her works for our displays. She enjoys all aspects of creativity such as painting, drawing, sponge painting and sticking. She shows good concentration span when doing these kinds of activities.
Physical Development:
Cori is a very physical child who loves being out in the garden area, running, jumping and climbing. She will take risks to try new things. She is enjoying the new challenging equipment in the garden. She has taken part in some of the ballet sessions out in the open plan area and is very confident in taking part.
I wonder if those dancing dvds "boogie beebies" is the reasons why she is so confident. She and I use to dance to those videos for a long time.
On Going Development:
Cori has grown so much in the baby room and will really enjoy the open plan area. She has reached all her milestones in the baby room and we look forward to seeing her future development in the open plan. We will miss her very much in the baby room.

Cori Counting from One to Ten

Its not your average counting. I say the number and she says what comes after next. She also knows how to count backwards. Although I havent taken a video of that yet. I heard brendan counting and she supplied the next number to follow. Pretty amazing for a baby isnt it? Then I counted backwards and she did count backwards.
